Making time for breaks that actually feel like breaks

Most of us plan rest the way we plan everything else: later, and at scale. A whole afternoon. A whole weekend. Something that has to be earned first.

Smaller breaks survive contact with a real week. Ten minutes with a glass of water and no screen. A walk that goes nowhere in particular. A morning where the first thing you do is not answer something.

The point is not the length. It is that the break belongs to you, and you know when it is coming.

A pause does not need to be productive to be worthwhile. Protecting a small one is often enough to change the pace of a day.
